*** so.. when I am working in my studio drawing and making the art stuff, this is the band I listen to more than any other... and their live shows are something special to behold. A mix of cosmic space reggae brazilian bossanova french newwave trip-hop acid-jazz global downtempo middle-eastern indian dub and good vibes. What can I say, I like to draw to it. On my Instagram page (Emek_Studios) are some videos of the poster in person. I've seen them 18 times starting in the 1990s. For this poster, I wanted to capture the delicate spaces between Beauty & Music rising above all the pain & chaos in the world. At the bottom of the poster, a lotus blossom grows out of a field of circuitry (technology can be used for good & bad). From this emerges a goddess of music holding up the circular Thievery Corporation Logo & who's flames shine a light on the bottom themes of death & pollution & greed & war & violence & surveillance & separation & oppression.. but then growing into nature & peace & hope etc. at the top. All the topics the band covers in much of their chill music. Or this all just a bunch of elitist artist babble to try to sell some art to pay my bills? ...But I did put a lot of thought and effort into this, and their music inspires me. For anyone still reading, here are just a few samples of their music that I dig. Hard to narrow it down. Thank you
